Padre Pio

The Man, The Franciscan, The Priest, The Mystic, The Saint

If you would like to read more about Padre Pio hear is a good link. http://www.ewtn.com/padrepio/index.htm

This is an original.  I wanted to show the stigmata. I used multiple sources to put it all together. I hope it is inspiring.

This drawing was done freehand using one of Steve McCurry's beautiful photographs as a reference. It is not for sale. It was drawn for my own personal use and for the pure joy of drawing.

My son Philip (now 18)

This is a drawing done in 2003. Philip use to run around naked with his socks on his hands. It was like part of his suit of armor. I'm not quite sure what happened to the rest of the suit. I guess he though it wasn't needed.

Whats New With My Art Friends

Notice the Changes I have made to your blog. Rather than just an ordinary link list. I am setting us all up with a Blog list. This way you will be able to view any updates to any of the blogs as they are submitted. I think this will help us all to stay close to each other. When updates are made it will automatically post on the bloglist of each blog. When you see it, click on the blog title and that will take you to the home page of that blog so you can see new activity and share comments. If at anytime you want to add other blogs to your list. All you have to do is click on design/Whats new with my art friends/ then add the URL or webaddress of the blog you want to add. I hope you all like this better. It may take me a few days to convert all the blogs but Im working on it. I hope the spring weather inspires you to create more beautiful art.   Loree

More from Haiti

Drawing this young girl brought me so much joy. I smiled the whole time I worked, it was as if  I could feel God moving my hands and giving me direction. It came so natural to me. This is the second in a series of drawings from Haiti. I praise His Holy name for giving me this wonderful talent and letting me experience such joy. This child has literally touched my soul with her piercing eyes and the warmth of her smile.  Posted by Picasa

Akiena's Personal Interview

This is lengthy but well worth viewing. Akiena's story is so incredible and we can learn so much from her as artist.     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYDzUTZys8g&feature=player_embedded

Hummingbirds in Pastel by Loree Lam

This is my third attempt to learn pastels. I am determined to get this. My goal is to be doing beautiful portraits in Pastel.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

I'm on a mission to teach myself how to do portraits with Chalk Pastels.
It's definately a challenge for me but I know I can figure it out. Keep drawing everyone and challenge yourself to learn new mediums.  Pencil is so much fun and we pencil artist get set in our ways, but a little bit of colour every now and then really helps to keep things moving along.

The Blessed Mother, Mary by Loree Lam

cool. :).... but so often don't people forget that Mary was a teenage mum....today teenage mums can get such a rough ride.... I am glad God chose a teenage mum so that those girls who find themselves in this situation can be told that its ok, God understands you.  God bless,   Eve Weatherley

Ignited by Truth Conference 2011

Actually, the truth is that many of the kids had sold their artwork before I could get it photographed. They saw me selling mine and thought it was a good idea.  So next year, I think I'll get all the kids to create a gallery of artwork to go on sell at the end of the conference to raise money for IBT. Glory be to God.

Ignited by Truth Conference 2011

Gee guys,
I sure wish I had been able to get pictures of all the amazing art work that was created on Sat but I was so busy that I forgot to pull out my camera. I only managed to get a few pictures. If anyone out there happens to have a few pictures they would like to contribute to the website. I would be grateful. Get your parents to photo them. or scan them into the computer and I'll post them. This was only a few of the many children that spent time with me drawing on Sat. I had so much fun. What a rewarding day. Loree

Mother Teresa of Calcutta in Graphite by Loree Lam

I'm back at it. I've been drawing for days and loving it. I hope all my drawing buddies are doing the same.
I will have two tables set up at IBT for any weary souls who would like to come draw with me. Stop by to see me. I will also have prints of my latest drawings available. I plan to get back to a busier workshop schedule in March.

Be Flexable! Life is full of changes.

I guess your wondering why there has been so much paint stuff on this Pencil Blog lately.

Truth is that Pencil Artist get a little side tracked sometimes and we have to add some color to our world every now and then.

I HEAR PEOPLE IN ART SCHOOL LOOK LIKE THIS.

SprayPaint Art Tutorial

Hey guys, Seems like alot of my students are getting interested in learning more about spray paint art. This is a pretty good get started video. I'm willing to set up a spray paint club to meet a few times a month and learn new tricks together if your willing to invest in your safety gear. Mask, etc. There would be a charge for each class to cover material cost but I think we can do it reasonable. Comment hear if you think this is something you would  be interested in.  Loree

Drawing for Beginners, free art book

THIS IS A WONDERFUL FREE DRAWING BOOK. WRITTEN WITH A BEAUTIFUL OLD FASHION FLAIR THAT REMINDS ME OF THE CLASSICS. I LOVE IT! ITS FULL OF GOOD DRAWING INSTRUCTION AND ALOT OF WISDOM. MOMS, I THINK YOU WILL REALLY ENJOY READING THROUGH SOME OF THIS EVEN IF YOU DON'T DRAW. IT IS GRACEFULLY WRITTEN AND DESCRIBES THINGS IN A WAY THAT SO MANY IN TODAYS WORLD HAVE FORGOTTEN.

Well, my dad always said, "Loree you need to learn to leave well enough alone."
When am I going to learn this lesson?  I stared at my female Avatar until I found something that bugged me in the face, so I began to redo her eyes. Guess what, I totally ruined her face. Now I am frustrated wanting to quit, but because I want to set a good example in front of my kids and teach them never to quit. I am trying very hard to find the motivation to go at it again. By the way, all my artist friends, it's this determination that makes a really good artist. We never quit, we just keep doing it until we get it right. It just might take a while.    Loree

January 13, 2011

I worked on the male upper body today. There is lots of tedious work to do with the smallest detail brush I have. It is a slow but rewarding process.

Dear Parents,

I would encourage you to frame some of these beautiful pictures your children are doing. And maybe we can display them at open houses or other events. Simple black frames will work nicely. If you want to go farther use black or white matts. I like black Matts with Graphite, it makes the picture stand out. Nice frames can be bought from Michaels or AC Moore with 40% off coupons from the Sunday papers.

Loree
Check out all the new  Artwork. Great Job! Everyone. Our blog is looking fantastic. I can't wait to see more. Keep Drawing. I wonder whose drawing will go up next.

Jessica's "Daily Affirmation"

I would like for all my students to do this every morning.
Never say,"I can't do it". "You can!!!!

Oh, and add "I'm a great Artist"
"I love to draw, I love to draw"
You get the idea.

Skipper by Loree Lam

Skipper was done with no blending. No tortillions. No stumps.
But I used a wide variety of pencil leads.
I like the tones I achieve with this drawing. The whiskers
were etched in with a homemade styllus.

My good friend Donna Maria once said to me,

" I am the pencil, in God's hand , and my life is his canvas.
He can paint it anyway he chooses".
